TATTOO AFTERCARE
Initial Care (first 2–6 hours)
-
Keep the protective bandage on for 2–6 hours to protect from dirt and bacteria.
-
Do not touch the area until you remove the bandage as to reduce risk of infection.
Cleaning
-
Wash hands thoroughly before touching the tattoo.
-
Gently wash with mild, unscented liquid soap and lukewarm water using your hands.
-
Pat dry with a clean paper towel or air dry. Do not rub.
Moisturizing
-
First 3–5 days: Gently apply a thin layer of Webber healing ointment to the area until it is absorbed, as needed. Do not apply an excessive amount, the skin needs to be able to breath.
-
After 3–5 days: switch to a fragrance-free lotion (e.g., Eucerin, CeraVe, Lubriderm) 2–3 times daily.
-
Moisturize every 8–12 hours or when the tattoo feels dry/tight. Continue until fully healed.
Clothing & Activity
-
Avoid excessive sweating or friction to the tattoo area for the first 3-4 days. Such activities will disturb the settling of the ink.
-
Wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattoo. Preferably cotton.
Monitor
-
Watch for signs of infection: increasing redness, swelling, blisters, severe pain, or discharge.
-
If you notice these, contact a healthcare professional.
Healing Time
-
Follow these instructions for at least 2 weeks; full healing can take 4–6 weeks.
To minimize fading, avoid tanning beds and protect the area with SPF50+
